Ironic Abyss

Exhibition, Installation — Dobra Vaga, Ljubljana — 2022

Ironic Abyss was an exhibition presented in the Dobra Vaga gallery, composed mostly of digital paintings, mixed-media sculptures, and lore slabs engraved into plexiglass. The exhibition is an exploration of my relationship with digital and pop culture, as well as an experimentation with materials and techniques of expression that extend beyond my digital work into a more classical painterly and sculptural presentation.

"In his works, artist Dorijan Šiško searches for meaning in the post-internet world through ironic distance by filtering popular culture and direct expression. In relation to the internet, these works are a contemplation of the post-ironic cultural mindset, mixed with an unpleasant touch of psychological introspection. Dark reflections slowly emerge, edgy and trash becomes mainstream, trendy figural meme paintings have to be thrown into an “Ironic Abyss”."
