Structural Visions from Critical Hit

Virtual exhibition — wwwforum, NRW-Forum, Düsseldorf´— 2023

Within the virtual residency "wwwforum", organised by the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf, I designed the project "Structural Visions from Critical Hit", which continues the themes of the Critical Hit project from a "museological" point of view. In the process, I turned the material of Critical Hit into a speculative-research exhibition. The virtual gallery space wwwforum was thus transformed into a kind of digital archaeology laboratory, in which I explored the different meanings of virtual artworks through the creation of symbolically charged virtual spaces. These symbolic spaces are a workshop, an armoury, a "lore" room, a vantage point, a "relativistic" journey and a warehouse. In each space I present, explore and deconstruct one aspect of my work to interrogate its meaning; textures become paintings, 3D scans become archaeological digs, anime swords become a valuable part of a museum's collection, and demons become decorative statues in the museum's garden. Through the described relationship to objects, 3D game elements and textures used in virtual spaces, questions of archiving, speculation, metanarrative and mythology are raised.
